| | Salesforce - 2/15/2007 | | | Salesforce has opened its new Geelong contact centre, creating 402 full and part time jobs in the regional city.
Victorian Minister for Regional and Rural Development John Brumby, who officially opened the new facility, said the outsourcer had hired and trained staff at the new contact centre with the help of $800,000 in funding from the state Community Regional Industry Skills Program. "This new contact centre at the former woolstore at the corner of Moorabool and Brougham Streets is undertaking inbound customer support work for clients, including the Australian Bureau of Statistics and now the core client, Telstra," said Brumby.
Brumby said SalesForce decision to open the new contact centre provided an economic boost for Geelong, and showed the investment climate in Geelong and provincial Victoria was strong. "The fact that this centre is fully operational with over 402 full and part time trained staff in such a short time, is testament to Geelongs strength as a call centre location."
